It's Over!

Black Friday that is. Soooooo happy to have that behind me. T'was crazy, I stayed up for a whole 24 hours, something I hadn't done since college. In general though, the customers were nice and there were no major problems that left me wanting to punch people in the face. So until next year! I guess I still have day after Christmas. Oh the returns that will happen then. Ah well. We had a good Thanksgiving full of delicious foods and wine and a fairly relaxing weekend. Oh and bonus. Found a dress for my Holiday Party on Black Friday at Von Maur for......$14. It's not green or one shouldered, but it's super cute and did I mention it was only $14? So it's nice to have that out of the way. That way, on the day of I don't have to be running around like a crazy person trying to find something to wear like last year. I can relax and get my nails done :) Short post for the day but I'm still trying to get back on a normal schedule after the Midnight-7am shift.

Peace out yo.

To Cut or Not To Cut.....

My hair that is. That is the question. And much tougher than Hamlet's struggle with life and death and wondering what dreams may come. Perhaps not, but it's a question thats been plaguing me for over a month now. I told myself I had to wait till Halloween to get my haircut. ( I'm trying to grow it out you see.) But here I am end of November and still no haircut. However I found a hair muse in the form of Hayden Panettiere:

.
( DO WANT)

Perfect haircut yo. Not gonna lie wish I could get the blondness to match. But hey, I'm pretty sure gentlemen prefer brunettes anyways. UGHHHH.....I need a trim at the very least, my hair is looking pretty craptastic these days. I hate doing my hair, which is NOT how I roll. Speaking of hair let me share with you my can-not-live-withouts.

(Heat be damned! You will not ruin my shine!)

Cannot and will not live with out CHI Silk Infusion and Iron Guard. (Find it at Ulta, but not online. If there isn't one by you you can find it at Target although I don't condone buying salon products from places that aren't salons.) The Silk Infusion is just that, run a small dab through wet hair before blow drying and instead of dry friziness you get smooth silkiness. If you straighten then always I repeat ALWAYS use a thermal protector. My fav happens to be the CHI Iron Guard, keeps my hair damage free!

Lately I've been rocking the sleek look but now and then I like to pump up the volume! ( Did I really just say that?) My obsesh for voluminous voluptuous and all other V words that describe big hair?

(Pure Love in a bottle)

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Spray. Once again can't buy it online, but you can find it at Target. I recommend finding your local salon that sells B&B. Anyway, after using the Silk Infusion spray this miracle mist at your roots, I like to blow dry upside down and voila!

Whew this was a long one. Lessoned learned folks: Don't get me talkin about my hair or hair products. I'll let you know how my hair struggle turns out. Or if I write any soliloquies about it.

Peace.

Monday, monday...

Another Monday down, and almost time for....Black Friday. I just want it to be over. Once it is I will be a much happier less zombie like person. In other news today I got the new Lady Gaga CD and am listening to it right now. It's pretty flippin awesome. Go buy it. Now.

Anyway

Boring Monday, just the usual paperwork catch up but I did get lunch at Noodle Zoo today so at least there was that. Just needing to de-stress and relax for the next couple of nights. Black Friday is approaching, I don't know if I mentioned that. Ughhhhhhh just gotta make it through this week. Time for this lady to go rest up and try to ignore the dishes in the sink and the laundry in the bathroom....we'll see how that goes. Trying to stay Zen. If you are too here is a little pic for inspiration.

Until next time loves.

Lime Lounge

Last night D, the Besties and I ventured out to a new Des Moines locale, The Lime Lounge. This bar has some history as D and I don't have fancy cable, just the basic, and he likes to watch the public access channel. Over the summer the hot topic on the channel was watching the city council meetings where this entrepreneur was fighting the council to open his bar. The council was trying to shut him down anyway possibly, you know those dang kids and their rap music and all. Lucky for Lime the owner is a lawyer and he gave the council the ole one two and bitches went down hard. So now we have a new establishment in the Ingersoll area it's new, it's fresh, and a nice change of pace from all the dive bars and bar and grills that line the street.

So the review....

We arrived early in the evening and Happy Hour was still going on. BEST HAPPY HOUR EVER. $1 wells and $5 flights. What is a flight you ask? The bestie is the only one who actually got it, but it is 3 mini martinis. Pretty good martinis too, but back to the $1 wells. It felt like college all over again, I cannot remember the last time I had a drink that cheap that wasn't in a bar where you stuck to the floor and the average age was 55. The vibe was pretty cool, maybe a little to hipster for D. Cool chairs, couches, benches and such with pretty mellow music.
( This is actually the couch and
chairs we sat on)

However, around 9:30 pm the dj showed up and it was time for techno and dancin. Not really our thing but it doesn't make me dislike the place. I just know now to show up early for happy hour and leave before the dancin begins.

Long post, I apologize, but get out there and check out Lime Lounge. Be sure to go for their Saturday happy hour because I don't know if I mentioned it but $1 WELLS!

XOXOXO

Turn It Up

Perhaps some of you don't know, but I love me some cheesy pop music. Miley, Britney, Katy Perry just to name a few. Muse will always be number one and one and only, but man when I'm working out or driving in my car turn up the cheese!

That being said...

I'd written off Lady Gaga as another pop sensation with some whacked out ensembles. Her new song has blown my mind away like WHOA! I can't get it out of my head and it is seriously rockin'. For some reason it reminds me of Cyndi Lauper, who was my hero back in the day. ( I had the record. Yes I said record. For you youngsters thats a vinyl disc and yes we actually used to play them, not just make wall art out of them.) I was going to go to Target today to buy the CD because I am obsessed with "Bad Romance". Alas my parade was rained on as it doesn't come out until Nov. 23rd. It's a safe bet I'll be running to the store that day and snatching up my very own copy. So for those of you who may have been Lady Gaga doubters I say "Listen UP! This song means some serious Biznezzzz." So have a listen and a watch and come join the circus that is Lady Gaga's world of awesomeness.

EDEN

Time to talk about one of my most fav local shops here in the DSM. Eden is located in the trendy lil neighborhood known as the east village and while small in size it is packed with awesomeness and I can easily lose an hour in there. Eden carries some of the things I love most, number one being Caldrea products.
(I may or may not be obsessed)

They also carry Keihl's, L'Occitane, Molton Brown, Fresh and other various beauty and home goodies that I love to ogle and wish I could take them all home with me. When you come to visit Des Moines (and I know you will because who wouldn't) or already live here and haven't heard 'bout this gem go check it out now! It will soon become your fav place too. Oh and also buy some Caldrea dish soap. Seriously, it will change your life. And get the Rose Pomegranate, it is beyond perfect for the Holidays. Thank you Eden for carrying my number 1 household obsesh!

RENT

I was lucky enough to see RENT yesterday and let me tell you it was AMAZING! Even more amazing was seeing Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal that close and to hear them sing right in front of me. Many a times did I want to rush the stage and profess my undying love to Anthony, but I refrained. I think he looked at me once, and I think we shared a connection so he probably knows. Ohhh it was SO fabulous my friends. D has been suffering the aftermath however, as I've been playing the soundtrack all day. I think he secretly likes it.

In other news....

I do not like Vodka Martinis. I accidentally ordered one last night at one of my favorite Des Moines establishments The Lift. I was debating between a Vodka Redbull and a Redbull Martini and when the bartender asked me what I wanted I combined the two and ordered a Vodka Martini. Let it be known, that I am no James Bond. Ah well another crazy weekend wrapping up full of life lessons and awesome musicals. So until tomorrow I leave you with RENT.

Noodle Zoo!

Today I ate lunch at my favorite place in Des Moines....Noodle Zoo! Seriously the best food I've ever eaten. Their house salad which is their specialty is to die for. It's impossible to describe it's something you just have to experience for yourself, whether you are a Des Moines native, Iowa resident, or just passing through my fair city, stop by and try it. Scope out their website yo and then make plans to visit and partake of their awesomeness. http://www.noodlezoo.com/

Anyways.....

My office Holiday Party is coming up and I of course have in mind the perfect outfit. However I cannot find it. I would like, a one shoulder emerald green dress and black patent leather platform pumps. Doesn't sound to hard right? WRONG! Unless of course you're rich and can afford either the Yves St. Laurent or Louboutin's that I've been obsessing over for years. Sadly I cannot and D won't give me the $700 for them. So if anyone knows where I can find these

and a dress like this:

at a price that I can afford, I'd be obliged.

Loves

Craziness!

Wow been a while since a post. D & I have been super busy lately it's finally started to calm down. Lots of racing visiting the folks, and workin been goin on the last couple of weekends. As most of you know I'm a veteran at the BB Dubs ( or Bath and Body Works for all you non Limited Brands employees) and Holiday Season is upon us like whoa! I'm talking Christmas Trees, paper chains, snowmen, the works. So until approximately February 1st I will be a workin like mad. I don't mind it though, I like watching the basement remodel fund grown in it's bright and happy ING savings account. Oh homeownership how I loathe thee sometimes!

Anyway...

As we've been busy my wifely duties have been lackin. Which causes major anxiety in this lady let me tell you. I try to always maintain order in my house as much as I can what with the menagerie that resides here. The kitchen and the bedroom are my two main areas of focus. Especially the bedroom. Don't know why but it is supposed to be the safe haven. The door remains shut at all hours of the day UNTIL we go to bed. (This is mostly to just keep the dogs out of there so they don't get fur everywhere) So when I open it up to go to bed I expect it to be pristine and welcoming and ready for me to hop in and snuggle up. Needless to say when it is not in that condition, I have a hard time sleeping. So if you ever want me as a house guest, you better have a spotless bedroom for me to sleep in.

This is my dream. I'm a workin on it.

Until next time peeps.
